Cardiff City Ladies v Oxford Utd
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 4 Feb 2018

SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final

Cardiff City Ladies were given a scare in the last round by a plucky Burnley Girls & Ladies side, the North West League outfit coming from two goals behind to level before Cori Williams scored a late winner with her second goal of the game. Ella Powell was also on target for Cardiff, for whom the boot will be on the other foot this Sunday as they will be up against WSL 2 opposition in Oxford Utd, who enter the competition at this stage.

Oxford United Women were founded in the early 1990s and, despite only a loose affiliation to the club, they achieved some notable successes. In 2008, there was a full integration of the women's programme into the football club, which coincided with the introduction of the girls' Centre of Excellence programme. This formed Oxford United's first female development pathway with a clear progression from grass roots through to the women's first team.

Since 2008, the women's development programme has achieved a number of honours, they have had players from the club's Centre of Excellence and first team represent England and Wales through all age groups from Under-15s to Seniors.

Since the integration into the club, the first team have had continuous success with back-to-back promotions and successive league titles. The 2012-13 season was probably the most successful for the club, the first team won the South West Combination title and the Oxfordshire Women's Cup for the third consecutive year, and club history was also made as they reached the Fifth Round of the FA Women's Cup where they played Everton, eventually losing to a superior team. The fans turned up for the big occasion with record crowd numbers at the Kassam Stadium, with 945 attending the Everton game and over 700 through the gates for the previous round against Newcastle United. The continued success of the club was rewarded at the end of the season as they were granted a place in the newly formed FA WSL 2, where they have remained since.

The team is managed by Andy Cook with Ruth Senior as General Manager and Lauren Haynes as captain. Kayleigh Hines is leading scorer so far this season and the squad includes a number of players who will lining up against their former club, including Chloe Chivers and Steph Williams.
