Two of the top three met each other on Sunday and it was leaders Charlton Athletic who maintained their winning run with a 1-0 success against Crystal Palace.
Charlotte Gurr scored the only goal of the game during the second half to take her side seven points clear at the top of the table.
Second placed Lewes lost a little ground on the Addicks when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Chichester City. Leeta Rutherford and Danielle Lane netted the goals for the Rookettes, with in-form Chichester striker Charley Wilson-Blakely bagging a brace in reply.
Portsmouth moved back into the top four on the back of a 3-1 victory over Gillingham. Nadine Bazan opened the scoring for Pompey with three minutes on the clock and after the break, Samantha Quayle sealed the points with a double before Jenny Newman netted a consolation for the Gills.
Coventry Utd meanwhile continued their return to form by running out 4-1 winners over C & K Basildon. Helen Dermody led the scoring for Coventry with a hat-trick and Alison Hall was also on target, with C & K replying through Therese Addison.
West Ham Utd raced to their biggest win of the season so far, scoring five times without reply past Swindon Town. Hannah Wheeler and Molly Peters ensured that the Hammers were two ahead at the break, before Paige Anderson-James netted a second half brace and Kelly Weathall rounded off the scoring.
Cardiff City Ladies recorded their second victory of the campaign as they edged out Queen's Park Rangers by the odd goal in seven. Zoe Atkins netted twice for them along with Ella Powell and Laura Williams, while Laura Hennessy, Kasha Petit and Rae Roberts all replied for Rangers.
