New Milton Town v Buckland Athletic
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 8 Oct 2017

SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final

New Milton Town staged the comeback of the round when they came from 4-1 behind to beat Downend Flyers 5-4, Katie Milton hitting a hat-trick with Nicole Power and Olivia Watts adding the other goals. They will be at home again this week in the Third Round Qualifying to another South West League Premier Division side in Buckland Athletic.

Buckland Athletic LFC were established as a ladies set up in 2015, which makes this the start of their third season as a ladies football club. The club was started as a passion of manager Grant Fisher and some ladies to have a ladies football club at Buckland Athletic FC, from this the club accepted and truly embraced the idea and the journey they are now on.

The club has started from the bottom and evolved with time and now run two ladies sides and two junior sides, which has been such an incredible rise since being established. They have moved through the leagues rapidly and last season won the 'treble' in the South West League Western Division, Bristol Soccerworld Cup and County Cup, losing only once - to Keynsham Town in the SSE Women's FA Cup.

The club is keen to develop its own talent as they feel there is so much around them and it is key for their progression and to continue progressing, a thriving youth department is essential.

Grant Fisher continues to manage the side, assisted by Vanessa Casey and goalkeeper coach Sam Doel, with Hayley Chamberlain wearing the captain's armband this season. Roy Holmes and Nigel Holmes are Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively, whilst Paige Burrows is Physio and the youth teams are coached by Dean Mitchell and Liam Ford.

Buckland Athletic is a purely voluntary run club and everyone does what they do for the love of the game and to improve the ladies side at the club, they have an incredible ethos and enjoyed a lot of success so far but it really is just the start, who knows where it could take them.
