Everton got off to a winning start in their UEFA Women's Champions League group with a 3-1 victory over hosts FC Osijek.
However there was not such good news for Glasgow City and Cardiff City as they went down to defeats at the hands of Bayern Munich and Brondby respectively.
Everton included new signing, Welsh international striker Gwennan Harries, on the bench but made a solid start as Toni Duggan kept up her superb form from the UEFA Under-19 Championships by giving them the lead. An own goal and a strike from Fara Williams, who had earlier missed a penalty, sealed the victory for Mo Marley's side.
Glasgow City eventually went down to a 5-2 reverse against their German opponents but this came after fighting back from two goals down to level the scores through Jane Ross and Ruesha Littlejohn. However, Bayern went back in front within seconds of the restart and City were unable to recover, going on to concede two further goals.
Cardiff City's task was always going to be a tough one against hosts Brondby, who have twice reached the semi finals, and the Danish side ran out 5-0 winners.
