An all round team effort - Keith
 Women's Football News 4 May 2005
Charlton Athletic manager Keith Boanas was both delighted and relieved after their victory over Everton in the F.A.Women's Cup Final. "It's all about an all round team effort and I am proud of the girls," he said. "We've hung in there for all three trophies in the toughest season ever in women's football and it would have been a travesty had we not cracked it in the F.A.Cup Final.
"We've been given so much support by the whole club, from the chairman and the board of directors down, and it is great to give them something back."
Keith paid tribute to the older members of his squad, saying: "Three of our players (Sian Williams, Jo Broadhurst and Pauline Cope) are in their mid-thirties but put in so much effort in hot conditions, and they deserve credit."
Keith also reserved special praise for winning goalscorer Eniola Aluko. "To overcome all the adversities she has come through this year - workload, exam stress and playing for England - she has come through well and that can only bode well for England. I think she'll be a star at the Euros, she's already a star for me."
Ann-Marie Heatherson won a battle against a medial ligament injury to make the starting line up for the Final. "Ann-Marie has great character, you could not ask for a bigger heart," said Keith. "It's her first game back after a nasty injury in the League Cup Final - she hasn't been able to kick a ball for nearly two months. Her effort was there for all to see and she could have had two goals."
Karen Hills, who made a brilliant goal line clearance in the first half, returned to the team after being left out for the previous match against Arsenal and also drew praise from her manager, who said: "Karen was devastated after the Arsenal game but I wanted to try something different. Karen is quick and while her distribution has not always been the best, it is not as damaging at right back as from the middle. She digested all of that and I thought she had a cracking game."
